A private family on Martha’s Vineyard seeks a long term, full-time, experienced Property Caretaker. The family are looking for an individual who is responsible, intelligent, hands on, hardworking and a steward with excellent communication skills. Previous experience working for a private family is a plus. Duties include; maintenance and care of all vehicles including a Duxbury Dory boat, assisting a resident gardener, caring for greenhouse mechanical systems, the regular checking of home mechanical systems and when necessary oversight of subcontractors, planning and preparation for seasonal use of beach property, recreational equipment, and outdoor furniture, as well as its storage, maintenance and upkeep, overseeing the pool maintenance company, general care and maintenance of equipment used on the property which includes various mowers and trimmers and other fuel powered equipment, oversight of work area cleanliness and organization, occasional odd jobs and errands and regular reporting and accountability to a family office.
This is a position which requires an innate sense of responsibility and a broad property management skill-set, which includes safe machine usage (ATV, walk behind mowers) and a willingness to learn what you do not know.
