A family of seven, in the Washington, D.C., needs to hire an additional afternoon nanny join their childcare team and assist in mangling the needs for a family’s five children, though the role will primarily revolve around the oldest four. This is a fully staffed home and the family has 2-3 nannies on duty at any time so one is never responsible for all children at once. Responsibilities include: helping parents and other staff navigating each child’s individual needs, planning & engaging the children in age-appropriate developmental activities, assisting with school pick-up, escorting the children to after school activities, assisting with homework and school projects, preparing healthy snacks, support during bath and bedtime routines and some very light children-related housekeeping & laundry needs. All candidates must drive, be able to travel internationally and domestically 1-2 weeks per year and be Covid vaccinated. Children range in age from toddlers to middle school age and the right applicant will have experience with multiple children within similar age ranges and be familiar with child psychology, working with neurodivergent children, and understanding children’s independent needs, and developmental milestones. It’s very important that the nanny have a fundamental understanding of when to take initiative and when to step back, as appropriate. Schedule is Monday to Friday from 1:30/2pm to 7:30/pm, with the understanding this may fluctuate so flexibility is needed. Salary range: $45-60/hr depending on experience, plus health insurance.
