A family based between the Upper East Side and Upper West Side is seeking a warm, experienced, and highly attuned Tutor to work one-on-one with their elementary-aged son. The role is split between two homes. The goal is to support his academic development while strengthening confidence, emotional regulation, focus, and a genuine sense of curiosity and engagement with learning. The child is bright, sensitive, and benefits from a thoughtful balance of structure and flexibility. He responds best to a calm, relational approach that integrates movement, creativity, and moments of reset into the learning process.
Responsibilities include: providing individualized instruction in reading, writing, and math, using engaging, multi-sensory teaching strategies to support attention and retention, helping develop executive functioning skills (organization, task initiation, staying on track), implementing consistent routines and positive behavior strategies and breaking down tasks into manageable steps. Communicating regularly with the parents about progress and challenges, coordinating with the school or therapists if needed to maintain consistency. Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children with learning differences, background in special education, education, psychology, or related field, patient, calm, and able to provide structure without rigidity and creative in adapting lessons to keep a young child engaged. Teaching certification or special education training and familiarity with executive functioning coaching strategies and experience with early elementary school curriculums. Schedule: Monday-Friday (after-school hours). Salary range: $70-$100/hour based on experience. Immediate start.
