A family, on the Upper East Side, needs to hire an experienced Special Needs Caregiver to assist with the care of their young adult daughter. Responsibilities include: assisting with daily activities, engaging her in developmentally appropriate activities and supporting her emotional well-being. The caregiver will handle all tasks related to the daughter’s care, including cleaning her room and bath and managing her laundry. Cooking simple, nutritious meals and snacks for her is a key responsibility – cooking occasionally for the parents is a plus. The caregiver must be comfortable communicating via text, as this a key way of communicating with the parents when outside the home. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum who can have occasional behavioral challenges. Strong communication skills in English are required. The candidate should be sufficiently physically fit to accompany the daughter on occasional brisk walks. The caregiver must be flexible with scheduling when required. Schedule is Monday through Thursday 11am to 6/6:30pm and one evening a week, approximately 30 hours a week. Salary range: $40-$45 per hour. Immediate start.
